Buildings and Energy Efficiency

In 2022, Town of Vail adopted the 2021 International Code Council buildings and residential code, including updated and strengthened International Energy Efficiency Code requirements.

Above code requirements adopted by the Vail Town Council include:

• Electric-ready raceways and panel space for electric appliances
• Solar-ready raceway and panel space for PV solar energy
• Electric vehicle-ready raceway and panel space for residential homes
• 5% installed EV stations for commercial and multifamily buildings
• 50% EV-capable infrastructure for commercial buildings

Eagle County Code Cohort

Staff from the Town of Vail participated in a collaborative effort to unify code language around advanced energy efficiency codes in Eagle County.  The results of this effort are being considered for implementation in the 2024 code cycle.
