Some decisions are easier than others. Recycling is one of them.

Thanks for showing that you care about Vail’s environmental health. This site is designed to offer guidance to businesses and residents as we drive toward a more sustainable future, reducing Vail’s landfill use. We achieved our goal of diverting 25 percent of waste going to the landfill by the year 2020 and now have a 33% recycling rate. We are now setting our sites on becoming a zero waste community.

You’ll find a list of recyclable materials, tips on preparing those materials for collection, drop-off locations, and even tips on disposing of hazardous household chemicals and e-waste.

Let's Recycle Right Eagle County!

The Town of Vail is proud to be a part of the Eagle County Climate Action Collaborative, which is launching its winter Bi-Annual Recycling Education Guide for the Eagle County Community. We are spelling out what can always go in your recycle bin and what can never ever go in your recycle bin. And we’ll let you know every 6 months if there have been any changes to the rules, so you can keep on top of your recycling game!

Please note, the following are not accepted in any recycling stream:

Aseptic containers (dairy/almond/oat milk/OJ cartons)
Starbucks hot coffee cups
Plastic Cutlery, plastic hot/cold cup lids, to-go dressing-sized containers (less than 3 oz)
Styrofoam
Plastic Bags

What is the Ordinance?

What is the Community Wide Recycling Ordinance? As of July 1, 2014 recycling regulations took effect in Vail. So yes, it’s a law, but its something we should all be doing anyway, so think of it as just a smart move and a small token of your love.
